Input shaft will be wrong. The sprint has a long input shaft to go through the adapter ring.

should be easy enough if you have all the bits at hand and i would guess the gearbox tunnel would be larger on an auto so perhaps a little more room , not sure if it is bigger though shame i did not pay more attention in those days when stags were plentiful
More complicated than it first appears....

You'll need a manual pedal box. One from a T2500 should fit. You'll need Stag clutch hydraulics, which are (both master and slave) bigger bore than a Sprint/2000 (1" bore slave cylinder may be fitted to a T2500 though).
The propshaft is different on a manual Stag (one from a T2500 manual will fit the Sprint gearbox but not the Stag diff flange! But is a T2500 prop the right length?). Best to get a Stag propshaft (its stronger than a T2500 one) and fit a Stag flange to the gearbox. And as already stated you'd have to change the gearbox input shaft.
You'll need a Stag flywheel and clutch components.
On ebay in the UK, Stag manual conversions go for hefty money.

hmmm, thanks guys, just had a thought that I could take the spare sprint gbox and OD and fit it to this stag I've bought, which has auto. But not a simple swap I take it. I'll hunt around a bit more, seems like it is worth pursuing.
thanks again

Tunnel is the same, box is completely different. Stag cross shaft is underneath the input shaft, different length and type input shaft, bigger prop flange etc. You can fit a T2000/2500 box, but the bearings are smaller and it they cant over at a different angle when fitted. A stag box has an LD****** number stamped on the bell housing.
The most cost effective way to do the conversion is to buy all the bits from a dismantler.
You will need
Gearbox (J type is the sensible option) long type nose bearing carrier is recommended
thrust bearing and carrier
crank pilot bush (of TR7 roller type)
flywheel
engine adaptor plate
clutch
gearstick, wood trim and O/D wiring loom
both parts of the crossmember
prop shaft
J type front exhaust pipes
exhaust mounting bracket
clutch slave cylinder and connecting rod
clutch master cylinder and connecting pipe
manual pedal box
Anything from £300 - £500 should buy the lot.
beware of parts of this list that are missing, especially the gearbox cross members (expensive or scarce second hand) or later gearbox long nose piece (rocking horse even new). The parts can soon mount up.
Worthwhile conversion? 200% yes!

thanks mark.
I think I'm going to struggle in Australia to sort that parts list out. Not impossible, but very difficult. A lot more to the conversion than I thought.
Many thanks for the detailed reply.
