Newguys Sprint Conversion

Well boys and girls, i brought the 1850, trailered her on Saturday.

Shes beautiful

Cleaned the shed out, so i can fit both cars in there.

The plan is to take the running gear out of the1 850 and then pull the sprint gear out and get it
fitted up with the manual box etc, then panel and paint.

Had a pretty big hangover today so i only got the radiator out and disconnected most of the cables etc.

Will go into a bit more detail tomorrow.

Looked like Sprint was a nice example. Is the damage to the Sprint worse than it looks?

Yup, i made it looks good after about 3 months of bogging.
Chassis is bent from a previous accident/s.

Well this morning i pulled the 1850 motor out and box. Didn't have alot of time the Gf had the arvo all sorted.
Undid the bonet bolts on the sprint to prep for taking her motor out.

Maori Day off today.

Gunne talk to my panel man this week as the car has had a respray on top of the red, in some orange, any how i took some paint off the bonnet and there is just primer sealer and then paint an there is no cracking and pealing etc so i might b best not to do a bare metal spray??

With a coil on the inlet manifold....

How do you mean 95M?

Early 1850s (with Stromberg carbs) are getting rare in the UK.

As regards your project, the shells are the same (apart from one or minor differences inside post 76), so everything can be swapped over to make a Sprint :) .

Ahhh ok, does any body have any manuals ( Pref able PDF Files?) on how to pull the front interior out? Dash Etc

Its a while since I've done this.......

You need a 7/16"AF (or 11mm) spanner and socket, possibly a 1/2"AF as well, and a philips No. 2 screwdriver, as far as I remember .

Start by removing the visible screws (from instrument panel, metal grill against windscreen, etc) and as you remove things you should discover what to do next.
As you can remove engines, etc, this should not be too troublesome, I expect. I hope.


You can buy the workshop manuals and parts catalogues all on one CD. These come up on ebay from time to time as well.

Not really any point stripping the interior though is there? it looks ok?

Few cracks in the front, want to pull it out to get the GBox cover off as well incase we have to mod it etc.

The wooden bits will come off fairly quickly (4 screws to remove for the instrument panel bit and the hose for the vent) and the glovebox is just 6 screws for the panel and another 6 for the box, and the clock bit I can't remember but it isn't that hard at all.
