Hi,
I'm trying to help a non forum member who doesn't have any fog lights.
I have looked through all the manuals I have but don't have anything on the wiring for the fog lights.
Since it was fitted on late cars I guess it was an ammedment diagram.

I understand how they should work by the little switch under the dash and it should get the feed from the main/dip beam.
I really need detail on wheather there is a fuse and what the wires colours should be.
It seems the only option is to trace it fom the foglight back to the dash.

Any help appreciated

regards

Lucas wiring looms all follow a standard colour coding. Try looking at a wiring diagram for an 80s BL product eg Ambassador or Ital for colours?

Legally in the UK, fog lights are only allowed to be operated in conjunction with dipped headlamps.

Blue and red cable off the main lighing switch should be the one to tap into if it has to be only for dipped beams. According to the later sprint wiring diagram (should be the same in the dash area at least) there isn't a provision for a fog lamp.

Not quite true! It depends upon whether one has a matching pair and how far from the outer edges of the car they are mounted.

Read Part III, Regulation 25 - (2)(b)(ii) of The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989, which is the actual legislation, to which the Highway Code refers:

Only true if the fog lamps are mounted below a certain height above the road.

There was never provision in the standard loom for front fog lights.
Rear fog lights are on all 1980 cars and are on a green and orange circuit IIRC. The power freed to the switch is linked to
the red side light circuit so they can only be used if the side lights are on.

The loom has provision for the rear fog light on both sides even though many cars were only fitted with the legally required one.
