I was with Pipex for years but changed to Orange about 6 months ago only because they were doing a monthly mobile contract & free broadband package. Worked out over £100 cheaper p.a. The Broadband seems fine, haven't had any problems yet. I was looking at going with Talk Talk & that would have saved me about £200 p.a. but then I looked on the web at they're "Customer Support" or lack of it.

Surely the important question is whether it is actually Orange, or whether it's actually
Vermilion/Flamenco/Red/Rust/Other...

Yeah, I'm with Orange/Wanadoo/Freeserve or what ever they call themselves this month.
Not tied into any phone packages but seem an okay service, just hope I never have to call their Indian call centre again as cannot understand what they are saying because of their thick accents.

We've had it for about 3 weeks. The wife changed her contract so we could get it. We waited for 6 weeks and heard nothing so phoned them up and no one had ordered it. After that it took about 10 days to sort out. We were supposed to have the no limits version with wireless and VOIP calls but when they ordered it the offer had ended and that would be £5 a month. We complained as that was the offer we were promised and we have now got the wireless version etc etc for free. After 18 months it will revert to £5 a month which is still good value. The VOIP calls are good quality too. We get 1 meg here but you can get upto 8 depending on where you are. I would recommend it if you have an orange phone anyway and spend have a £30+ bill monthly.
That said we were on dial up before so anything would be better than that. Reckon the broadband is worth £15 a month so do the maths and work out if it's right for you before you sign up.

I had the freeserve/wannado/orange Dial up connection for bout 2 years, tried changing it to orange broadband....took them 3weeks to tell me i cant as im not with BT (nothing was said bout that when i applyed)
Anyway got broadband free with TalkTalk, kept the dail up open incase of any problems...cancelled it after the first month, they said id get an E-mail with confirmation...Never got that!!
Rang them as they took another months money said they were sorry and they would refund me...Never got that!!
Rang again to be told that they have no record at all of me calling or cancelling, i was also told i was a liar and they hung up on me!!
Ever since i wanted to either change to Broadband with Orange or Cancell my subsciption all together i had nothing but trouble with them, Either they kept taking my money or i was called a liar or had them hang up on me!!
Through my experience with them i would say STAY AWAY there are plenty of broadband companies out there!!
And for the people who have Orange.....Just wait untill you have a problem...thats where all my trouble started!!!

You get what you pay for with all these 'free' services which is why they are in the papers / watchdog most weeks. If you need a service you can rely on don't go with a free one. If OTOH you do have to wonder at these people who whinge all the time that their broadband that costs zip isn't as good as their old provider who cost x a month, what do they expect for nothing?
If you need a reliable service I recommend
Plus. I've been with them 2 1/2 years I think, my connection and company mail server at home are never switched off. I have to reboot my modem every couple of months, I think it gets tired. Other than that the only times my connection has been down for more than a short time are once when an electrical storm fried my modem, once when BT replaced the poles outside the house and once when bt were out trying to fix the neighbours broadband. Theirs is BT and like the underwear of a lady of negotiable virtue, up and down a lot.

I've used plus before, they are fine until you try to leave them.... We had no end of hassle then! That's probably the case with most ISPs however.

The TalkTalk package we have is free broadband but it is fine for us as the internet is'nt used a great deal anyway...if i have a problem i click on TalkTalk assist and on a 95% average it fixes itself..the only time i had to ring for help they were very helpful and got me up and running within 1/2hr!!
Ok it probably is'nt as good as the £30+ packages but for what we use it for its fine!!
The only internet provider i have moaned at is Orange and i was paying for that one!!!

You must be talking about a different NTL... I mean really, you are having a laugh, right? I've had so many problems with NTL it's not even funny. And their support desk are worse than useless.
My phone number was plumbed to a similar address to mine, but the other side of town.
They fixed the phone and broke the broadband.
They fixed the broadband and broke the telly.
They fixed the telly and the broadband stopped working again.
All working fine now, but took a whopping 6 months, and £50-worth of mobile calls to sort out. (Cos the house phone wasn't working)
They were kind enough to reduce my bill for 6 months due to their complete incompetence.
3 months into that 6 month "discount" period, they wrote to me telling me I'm not paying enough, and then sent me a huge bill for the difference.
