Nope, it needs some mashing of a sprint gearbox tunnel to get it in. The tunnel on your car is a fair bit smaller than a sprint one so it's going to be a struggle.

Didn't need much tunnel mashing. Do you have one then Adam....

I got a couple at home, I think

Should be. And I think the axle's worth a bit too.

Yes, an unknown box will go for around 30-70, with a working box going up to anything around 150 including bellhousing :)

I achieved 140 on ebay for an 'unknown' 'box

The 5 speed axle went for 100 direct sale

Really? Whoops, was offered one of those for free

Might look into getting one anyway, I might need to narrow one and fit a different diff to tame the '8 somewhat, it's geared for acceleration at the moment and does about 3000RPM at 70.

Still, returned ~32mpg so that'll do

What axle do you have in your V8 Lewis?

Standard Sprint.

This has had a rather amusing effect on acceleration, seemingly! Does seem a bit short-geared tho although from what I've seen from a few gear calcs, it should do 60 in 2nd, just.

I seen one going for £117 that had been stood for 10 years...

I think I'm going to buy a Sprint engine and 5 speed for this TR7 off the same bloke. Leaving me with a spare or I'll ebay it.

He offerd us (Me, Rich and Jonny the boy who had the Viva) 3 TR7s for £300. That was the one I got now, a completly rusted though convertible shell with Sprint engine and 5 speed and a good convertible shell (with awesome Corvette like rear lights!) without gear box and engine.

If mine was £70 alone and that shell is worth more than £100, more like £150 (easily, if it isn't I may just have to buy it!) then he'd want less than £100 for the Sprint engine and box. An apparant runner too...

Couldn't get Rich and Jonny to go in to a 3 way deal, panzees :P

Slightly different gearing from mine then. 70 in 2nd, 100 in 3rd, not been past 130 in it. (yet)

Adam, sounds like your TR7 combo's a bit of a bargain... :D

Steve Martin aka QuickSprint

Has the 5 Speed lt77 box in his Sprint.

Certain he changed Flywheel Clutch ETC.

His car is still on the Triumph Owners site

Althought he now longer own's her.

I nearly did but bought a Hayabusa instead.

What ratio's are the LT boxes running?
