So is there a 1500 FWD owner that has two brand new black headlamp cowls, by any miracle, that wants to swap for these beauties??? :?:

The difficulty is getting the paint to stick what with them being aluminium. When I painted mine I just used Hammerite fom a can even though it said not to and they've been fine though they are now covered in Fly squash and need a good clean. Chap in North West area has an 1850 fitted with silver cowls, looks different!

You could get them anodised, try your local plating shop.

They already are anodised, hence the problem of getting the paint to stick. All you need is the correct primer...where did I put my non ferrous paint specifier...back in a moment...

There's one on the 'bay at the moment btw...

There are some very good aerosol etch primers that work well on aluminium. I've used U-POL ACID#8 with great success on ali crankcases.
