Mad March March to the Marches
Posted: Wed Jul 16, 2008 8:06 pm
This is an idea I thought of after the long (quantity) but short (distance) convoy from my house to the TDCIR Himley Hall, what, three years ago?
The amount of folk who in a six mile distance pointed at our cars, because there was more than one of them, made me think, let's get out there and be seen!
The principle of this event will be a fun convoy on some good A and B roads around the Welsh Marches.
The event will take place on Saturday 28 February 2009 and Sunday 01 March 2009 (St David's Day).
The route will be circular and designed with specific stops where folk can chose to join or leave us at will depending on availability, locality and desire.
The provisional itinerary will be as follows:
Saturday AM:
1: Meet for coffee at Ross on Wye (end of M50 and convenient access point for many)
2: Head off
Hereford via Ledbury
3: Hereford
Leominster
4: Lunch - good chippy by the main car park
Saturday PM
5:Leominster
Hay on Wye
6: Afternoon tea
7: Hay on Wye
Llantony Priory via Hay Bluff
8: Overnight stop at Llantony Priory: A truly fantastic place
Campsite and Rooms available though rooms are very popular and advance booking required.
There is a real ale bar in the vaults of the ruined priory
Sunday AM
9: Lazy start and back over Hay Bluff and down
Brecon via Talgarth
10: Lunch in Brecon provisionally at the Puzzle Tree (will probably need to book for this so in due course will need numbers for this bit)
Sunday PM
11. Brecon
Abergavenny
12. Cross country Abergavenny
Monmouth
13. Monmouth
Ross
14. Afternoon tea in Ross
15. Home
So, anyone up for it? Hopefully get Rob Marshall to write it up for the magazines and good publicity for the Club.
Costs will be purely individual; fuel, food and accommodation
