Track width and arches

I have got my sprint on its wheels at last and I am trying to sort out fitting the arches I got from Hans a year or so ago. I am running a ford atlas axle on the rear so have gained 2 1/2 inches in the rear track, this fills the rear arches out nicely. This had brought the front and rear track to nearly the same width. The problem is the front wheels look lost in the arches. I could just move the wheels out to make it look right or would I get a better balance from the car with track widths pretty much the same. One thing I noticed when driving a dolly round Goodwood when compared directly to my Jensen Healey was how twitch the rear end of the dolly was, Both cars were running identicle tyres, similar weight, similar speed and similar lap times and similar rear suspension design. So I am thinking this could be down to two reasons, forward weight bias, narrow rear track.
This is something I would like my car not to suufer from so my question is am I thinking on the right lines in trying to keep the track widths the same or is this not really going to affect it?
