Well, there's a beer festival in B'stoke that night so I'm sure you'll understand if I don't show up. Alternatively why don't you all sort out a minibus and come on up for some ale
Seriously though, if the date changes let me know and I'll try to get along.

The area itself or the local pubs?

Good location for me, nice and local...
I can't comment on the
Green Dragon, cos I've never been there. Don't even bother looking at the
Sir Walter Tyrrel, it's awful. The
New Forest Inn doesn't have much parking, tried to go there a couple of months ago and couldn't even get in the car park, so we went to the
Royal Oak, Fritham instead - best pub in the area by far, but it is tiny, and also has very little parking. The
Rockingham Arms is probably a good bet, plenty of parking, a bit of a "gastro-pub" these days, but not bad... There are also the
Lamb Inn and the
Red Rover, but I don't know much about either of them...

When you come off Junc 1 (Cadnam) and take the turn into the Forest (sign post, Downton, Oknell, Salisbury) after approximately 0.75 miles you come to two pubs facing each other. The one on the left (white render) is quite nice but has a tiny car park though there is some overspill in the layby outside. The one on the right has a huge car park relatively, because it shared with the golf course. It also does very good food, but quite expensive IIRC. It is a nice setting though. I will find out the name when I make my pilgrimage to see my kids this weekend.
The Sir John Barleycorn is fine and has quite a large lay by/parking area and is lietrally just off the motorway roundabout.
There is also another suitable place off of the next roundabout on the Lyndhurst Road.
I can see I need to do a reccy.
