Hi

I looked at a brooklands green sprint on sunday and I am thinking about it however I have a couple of concerns

1) the front sections of the sills are holed and I think the mint wings havr to be cut off to repair it

2) its very cammy as in noisey

3) it has only got a temp gauge and not an oil pressure guage where I have seen others

I have a couple of old bl cars (mini's0 so expect some work but Im not after another project so it needs to be usable

its up at 2250

Any advise or suggestions If any one else is intersted in it I will forward the info

or any one local to chorley thats well up on them that would like to have a nosey?

Sill ends can be let in without wing removal I think, but it is tricky, wings can be removed without damage, if the wings are mint take care of them as wings are not available new anymore so will be expensive. Autonet 7 or mad mart on here will know better about sill welding than me.

As a club we have lower wing repair panels which enable you to leave the wing on, but cut off the bottom edge and let a new piece in, not too bad a job for a tidy welder.....

Oil pressure gauge isn't standard, I guess one of the other gauges has been taken out, usually the volt one...

2250 is ok money, but the price range is fairly large from £500 up towards £10000 so it does really depend on the cars condition, would you like to share part of the reg plate, someone on here might know the car.

Other places to check for rust include chassis legs, under the battery, bottom of the turrets, dash rail, and the vent panel under the back of the roof.....having had a fair few minis and dolomites I reckon I can say they are much more solid than a mini as a rule....

Front sections of sills are fairly easy but no panel is currently available, so it's a case of fabrication. As David says, best to cut the lower section off to access. If the lower section of the wing is good it can be re used.

If the engine is noisey, it could be a simple re-shim job, or at worst a new or good s/h camshaft.

£2250 sounds a bit high for a car needing that sort of work. Has it got a recent MOT?
