I turned up about 8:15 waited for over an hour an a half and gave up. I assumed all your dolly's broke down on the way there :P.

Did I miss u (i.e. u turned up later), or were you already there but none of you came in your dolly's?

Re: welders
Well it seems fortune has decided to favour me. A stag owning member of my family informed me today that he has a 130Amp Cerbora and I can borrow it whenever I wish after he has finished welding floor panels onto his motor <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish ...

I've decided to try and repair the one I have as opposed to buying another one in better condition and swapping the bits across.
Re: Dolomite racing
I'm very interested. Like the others, I'd need to know the sort of costs involved but if they aren't ridiculous count me in.
Re: 1978
I like the wolf in sheeps clothing approach, used to have a cavalier 1.6L with a 130 engine in it. Then I had a 306 GTi 6 (looks like the HDI). Then I had a baby, bought a house, missus gave up work so I had to run 2 cars on one budget and after a year of crappy carness decided to add a sprint to my ...

Re: 1st week of ownership
Well you can check the cills, subframe and common rust spots pretty easily. Lack of any welding is also usually a good sign. Besides the car I have now was bought on the assumption that it would need a fair bit of work, it was half stripped and sprayed in a lovely colour scheme of yellow and grey ...

Re: Yes but...
Well I've ordered the rimmer catalogue, I'm going to strip everything off and work out how much it'll cost me, if its too much I'll have to go for the second donor car and nick the shell (idealy one with the round lights save me having to fart around too much :P).
Re: 1st week of ownership
Just noticed a cheap 1300 for sale near me. Apart from the subframe and the obvious stuff is there any difference between the shells?

1st week of ownership
Stripped her down and ..well she's in a lot worse condition than I first thought. Found that most of the front, rear and many other bits are filler. The chassis leg thingys now have lots of holes in them after I decided to have a prod with a screw driver and the bits of the car that aren't rusted ...

Re: Newbie
Cheers Alun, I'll make a list but it will take a while. I'm more than willing to travel to get the parts (not in the dolly yet though). In fact I was only a stones throw from you 2 weeks ago in Halesowen. Took me just over 2 hours (4 sets of roadworks)
