The spring Resto Show is sometime in Feb usually, isn't it?
Re: Cylinder head skimming and Timing

And skimming the head will up the compression ratio a bit, which will cause pinking unless the timing is retarded.

Were they direct fit Daz, or did it take any machining?

Go with the hire company. They have their own insurance policies on their vans.

Re: Chris Dickinsons 1850

Could well be enough. Plus an air leak would mean you would be running lean under heavy load, hence the overheating.

Re: re: write off!

have you got an agreed value with the insurance co.?

It's worth that much. Otherwise, start at £1500 and haggle with the insurance company, fighting for every pound.
It looks like I'll be playing taxi for Richard4040 and 2FAST4U this weekend, so I shan't be in Stoneleigh until Lunchtime. Make sure to leave some wheels to polish for them, I'll be bringing the Micromesh...<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/happy.gif ...

Re: Wiper motor problem

somewhere or other it should say the capacity of the cooler. Add a bit for the pipes and stick it in the top. give it a crank, see where the level is on the dipstick, then top up as normal.

Re: ....

I dunno how much use it would be. You'd need to beef up the hydraulics as there would be a need for extra pressure in the system, and the puny discs would have twice as much heat going into them. I reckon it would work really well for one stop, but then the discs would be knacked.
