I had a similar "oil" experience with an old Fiat Uno I bought for my wife. It got to the point where I couldn't put any oil in the filler so I took the rocker cover off. I spent an hour scooping chunks of oil out with my hands and when I realised eventually that this blob had almost seized the ...

Re: Sprint water pump extraction
It's a job I'll need to do and not be left ordering any more parts. Any pitfalls I should be aware of?

Sprint water pump extraction
You chaps diagnosed my sprint with a duff water pump about 8 weeks ago. I ordered the repair kit from Rimmers which arrived the next day, but I still haven't got the extractor tool. Various chaps at Rimmers have told me several tales, e.g. it's out of stock, it's in stock but hasn't made it through ...

Re: Water leak
Why would it send water external to the engine, shouldn't it just stop pumping?

Re: miss
I used to get the same problem when my points closed up (they closed as a matter of course every 3K or so). I've changed to electronic ignition so don't have the problem anymore. It makes me think though that it's worth getting your electronic ignition checked - I'm sure the local garage can plug in ...

water everywhere & I don't know where from! (waterpump)
My Sprint has been using a lot of water recently and a quick inspection found that the battery (£5 from the scrappy) had been bashing against the bottom hose when the engine flexed around. This had eventually caused a hole...hence my water loss. I changed the hose and for a few days all was fine but ...

Re: Studs????
Thanks for all the comments chaps, but it looks like the weather has put the job off for another weekend! I've got about two weeks left before the 28 days exchange is up + the old BMW has failed it's mot so I've a busy weekend (next weekend now) weather permitting.

Re: Kenlowe wiring
This is fairly irrelevant, but I've had problems with the inline fuse on my kenlowe. As the fuse sits above the radiator (it does on my car anyway) it gets crusty stuff building up on it and stops making the connection. A bit of WD40 sorts this out but I thought it may be worth pointing out.<br ...

Re: DOLLY SPRINT STARTER MOTOR REPLACEMENT
I've now got no worries about having the car going as I've just made my other car roadworthy (it's a 70's BMW 525). I had to buy 8 brake bleed nipples for the princly sum of £37 as the previous owner rounded the lot of them (you don't know the pain I've been through to remove these!) - also I bought ...

Re: Carb Mounts
I got the mounts from Quillers, who in my 2 years of sprint ownership have always supplied parts cheaper than the rest. I've only used Rimmers twice (I have bought a lot of parts) and they're great, but they do charge a fair bit more than all the others.
Carb Mounts
I'm going to replace the carb mounts on my sprint. As I'm a fairly crap mechanic (but still won't send it to the garage) is there anything I'm likely to break. Be aware that if something can be broken my method of mechanics will break it!
DOLLY SPRINT STARTER MOTOR REPLACEMENT
Help! I'm going to change the knackered starter on my sprint next weekend (28.2.04). The manual suggests it's a walk in the park but a friend has said that access to the nuts & bolts will be the killer.
Re: 1 Reason
I bought ny first Sprint 18 months ago and it's been a real pain. Time, effort, money, and I wouldn't swap it for anything (most things anyway!). Go ahead and do it...whatever you buy, you'll love.
