Drilled a 35mm hole and fished out the 3inch square loose baffle and rewelded up the box.<br>

seems solid

The box seems solid, in fact it is as solid as when new and still is silver coloured like a new box.<br>

After going over the engine settings with a fine tooth comb and finding nothing wrong I ruled out the motor. <br>
It has got worse, bad enough that i could duplicate it when stationary so I could track it to.....................<br>

what are settings?

the engine has started pinking, or at least that what I am assuming it is. I am getting a loud noise when the engine is under load like a tin can being dragged under the car.<br>
Never had it before as even back in the eighties my cars wer kept tuned properly<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :rolleyes ...

What timing and other settings should I use on a 1300 dolly still as standard and unconverted? Can I get away with no additive or is going to catch up with me soon?

done and dusted

Managed to get a rear section from CESUK and pieced in a bit between the old centre and new rear box. Sorted for around 45 quid including the clamps.<br>

Yeah but nobody has them despite advertising them in stock, I jsut spent several hours phoning around all the dealers this morning including all the exhaust manufacturers to find that mild steel centre boxes are not even listed any more and nobody has one.<br>
Rimmers and fitchetts may advertise ...

ouch, lots of dosh

I have found that an mild steel centre section is unobtainable from anywhere, unless somebody knows different.<br>
It looks like a SS exhaust is all that is available and that would cost 3/4 of what the car cost, ebay beckons rather than pay this<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START >D --><img src=http://www ...

Have sourced the balljoints but am curious about costs of stainless exhausts through TDC. Have sent away for info about club and still trying to decide whether to join (I am in both the local car club and MG club already)<br>

This car came from Lincolnshire last saturday and had been stored 5 years. The exhaust looks brand new but water must have been lying in the rear box and rotted it to B****ery. I reckon it will prbably have to be a complete system as it only seems to be two parts and the ones I can find are three ...
