Manifold / Roll bar

#31 Post by Stephen Grellet » Thu Oct 02, 2003 5:42 am

The new roll bar has the advantage of solid mountings which will make the bar operate better. In regards to the pick up point, the bars effective stiffness is the bar stiffness multiplied by the motion ratio squared. The motion ratio is the distance from the pick up point to the pivot point (bush) divided by the total length of the bottom arm (between pivot points).If the bottom arm is 10 inches long, and the pickup point is 5 inches from the pivot point, then the motion ratio is 5 / 10 or .5 .5 squared = .25 If the bar strength at the end of the bar arm is 300 lb/in then the effective strength is 300 x .25 or 75 lbs If the pick up point is right at the ball joint then the motion ratio would be 1 and the effective strength of the bar would be 300 in/lbs

<br>
I've finally sent out pics of the manifold that I intend to get made up.<br>
<br>
Smifter, can you put the pics on your website, so that others can see ?<br>
<br>
It look quite simple which I guess means the flow will be good as it's not like spagetti ? the primaries look about the same length and the exit bore is huge !!<br>
<br>
As with the Sierra brakes, the more people who want one, the cheaper it will be ....<br>
<br>
RSVP......

its worth getting a length of welding rod or similar to compare pipe lengths - if they arent even it could be a waste of time.<br>
<br>
I'd be interested to know how flexible the power is with this manifold - the best setup for mid range flexible power is a 4-2-1 manifold however this one is a 4-1 which is very good for maximising high rpm power but mid range can suffer. Still its bound to be better than the cast manifold.<br>

If you want these pics can you download them asap as I am getting a bit low on webspace and will probably have to delete them in a couple of weeks time when my site will be due for a decent update.<br>

Cheers<br>

I think a 2 1/2" dia Jod Clark side exit special (with a bigger silencer!) would fit to it nicely<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :p --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":p"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :p --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":p"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END-->
