Just a quick post to let you guys know that ther's a new sprint on the block. I've had a standard (rusty) one for years but couldn't pass up the tidy modified one I found for sale in S Wales recently.

Spec seems to be similar to Smifter's.

Stage 3 TT head, twin 45s, electric f/pump, height adjustable spax on stiff & short springs, yokohama rubber, rear cage and most importantly NO RUST!

Bought it with a R/R printout of 141bhp at the wheels...

I'll let you know what it goes like. Any tips on what's likely to break first are welcomed!

James.

'New' Sprint.
Re: 'New' Sprint.
Welcome aboard to your New Sprint!

The first things you are likely to break is your bank balance, marriage, social life.........<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Are you planning on putting all these mods to some proper track use?
Re: 'New' Sprint.
Whereabouts in the world are you James?

Sounds like a good useable setup for road and track.

Get yourself along to the Anglesey track day (see the seperate thread) and give it some proper safe stick. There are quite a few of us going and places left. Plus, you should be able to have a look at whats on other peoples cars and see where you want to improve or uprate the vehicle.

Oh, and welcome!
Bank balance, marriage etc....
The bank balance, marriage thing can definately be a bit tricky on occasions. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ohwell.gif ALT=":"> Especially with a 2.5, front, mid-engined spitfire project in full swing as well!

Luckily the Dolly is being done together with my Dad so we can split the grief somewhat (or are we just doubling it?)

The idea is to keep the car road legal but use it principally as a trackday car, I'm in Worcestershire so Anglesea isn't too far away. Unfortunately I'm working that day but I'll see what I can wangle. Dependant also on how well set up I can get this thing.

Good to see that the Dolly sprint clan is as present and vocal as ever!
Re: Bank balance, marriage etc....
Sounds like a good plan James. The track day is principally TR Register people from that end of the world. From my perspective it would be good to show them that there is a fair contingent of motorsport orientated Sprint owners (some in Smarts<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":b"> ) out there as it may help in their decision to absorb Dolomites into their series.

I actually got my TR Register membership through the other day as I have to join to be able to race on an invitational basis. Somebody must have choked on their breakfast when they opened up my application and next to where it says, "Model of TR owned" it said, "Dolomite Sprint"<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

Got to be the first member purely with a Dolly!

Hope to see you there anyway, either in the Sprint or the Spitty.
