Castle Coombe Action Days 2004

#1 Post by SMIFTER » Wed Mar 17, 2004 7:28 am

Due to the demise of CCC magazine, there are no longer any triple C action days on the Calendar.

Good thing I reckon. I've voiced my views on these dangerous track days before.

There are only 2 action days a Coombe this year though that are relavent to us.

Sat April 24th - Castle Coombe Circuit Spring Action Day
Sat Sept 11th - Classic and Sportscar Action day.

On the positive side, they now have scheduled session times, so no more queing in the paddock for an hour and a half for 10 minutes on track. Hopefully they'll use some common sense when allocating sessions.

Also they are reducing the number of cars on track by 25%. so that'll be about 25 cars at a time. Still too many IMO but its a good improvement.

On the down side, they've predictably increased costs to £30 for a session pass<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ns/eek.gif ALT=":eek"> and £10 admission cost per person.

For my money privatelyorganised track events like the Anglesey one are the way to go.

If anyone is going to Coombe in April let us know - i might pop up there despite not having my car in a usuable state.
As you know, I've been preparing my latest Sprint for the track. I will be using the Combe spring action day as my baptism of fire, so to speak. The Sprint is nearly ready, just MOT, tax & insurance to worry about and a couple of minor mods.

Graeme, if you're up for it, as you have taken me around before you can come round with me (bicycle clips recommended). <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ns/eek.gif ALT=":eek">

I agree that the privately organised track events like the one at Anglesey are definatetly the way to go. You get much more track time for your hard earned pennies.
I only wish that I lived closer. That would be one sight to see!

I don't think they allow rubber pants Graeme. How tight is the scrutineering there?
