Does anybody the following info :

The make and model of the Spot lights fitted to the TR7's in the late 70's ? They were chrome bezels, black backed and had a boss on the rear side ? These were not the LUCAS Flame throwers.

Has anybody got a works lamp bracket or a technical diagram of the lamp bracket they can send me to copy ?

Cheers,

Julian.

Hi Julian,

You do ask some tricky questions. I don't know the answer to your question but have had a quick search on google and it has thrown up the following:

Lucas P700
Sorry if its not of any use but I know nothing about spot lamps.
Spot Lights
Dear Scott,

Yeah I have drawn a blank on these lights. Hella do something similar ( £130 each !!!) but they are not THEM, PIAA,CIBIE and KC are all no shows.

Have some good pics via the BMHT and have worked out the lamp bracket externals but not what happens once it passes through the grill !!

Anyway still no car. That's the biggest bummer ! Nothing to scale the paint scheme off - if you have not got one in the garage to measue stuff off against the picture, your stuffed.

Keep in touch via:
julian@andersonj85.freeserve.co.uk

Went to look at a car last weekend and had a wasted trip despite the car LOOKING good ! Slowly running out of ideas now. Just got to wait and try and get there first. Off to the Manx this year for a look round, was hoping to take "IT" there next year.

Oh well..Maybe....

Cheers,

Julian.

Re: Spot Lights
Well I wish you the best of luck. There are a couple of nice examples on ebay at the moment but all in the wrong colours. Its only a matter of time before one comes up that is spot on. If you had the budget, the ex Gerry Marshall car is in the right colour!

If you spot any down this way or either in London where I work, I'll gladly take a look at them for you and take some detailed pictures to send up to you.

Try and talk your Dad into doing something for the Dolly Mixture magazine regarding his Laycock work and developing the J type. It would make interesting reading for many.

As for the scaling off, I wouldn't know where to start. I bet each car was different anyway and probably marked up and sprayed to an artists sketch.
