Ex Post Historic racer

#1 Post by Carsreunited » Mon Apr 04, 2005 9:42 pm

I met with a really nice guy the other day (bought a couple of cranks off of him)

He used to race a vermillion coloured Sprint very competitively in the early 90's. A guy that worked with him also prepared a car and raced it in the series for a while.

He told me that it wasn't a competitive car and has since been put under a tarpaulin. I think he was politely saying that the owner wasn't that quick rather than the car. Who knows!

The only spec I know of is that it has Twin 48 Dellortos, LSD, full roll cage, race seat and harness and an alloy rad along with a few other nicely fabricated tanks. It looked tahiti in colour and rust free from a very brief inspction.

He wants to get rid of it asap and thinks that the owner would take £1200 for it.

The car is just west of Newbury. If anyone is interested then PM me for his phone number and discuss direct.

In my opinion it would make a cracking track day car after a little re-commissioning or even a great stepping stone to racing. All safety pulls were in the right places and I would imagine that it would only need a fully plumbed fire extinguisher system after next year to meet scrutineering.
Scott, do you know if this car sold? It appeared on ebay a while back but I don't think it reached the reserve. Have you heard anything?
Not a sausage. Start bid was 1k and it didn't even reach that. I could find out if you are seriously interested.
Well, after Sunday, my interest is all fired up again. I can't really afford to go racing, but I thought if I could pick it up reasonably cheap and put all the bits into a decent shell over the winter I could do some track days at least. I'd have to sell something first though. So, like I say, if it wasn't too much and I could get it up here without breaking the bank then I might be up for it.
Ahhhh. Bit slow on the up-take there. I'll give Paul a call at the weekend and ask about it. Will gladly help out with the trailer if you go for it. Just need my fuel covering really.
