A Classic Tale

#1 Post by MalcGE » Sat Sep 10, 2005 10:10 am

A chap form Germany purchased a T2000 Zorst Section off me, paid me and sid i'll pick up in Sept, fair do's. He calls me and we say Weds 20:00. I get a call, water pump gone, car at garage in Solihull will be done Thurs. We arrange for a Fri pick up. Get call fri PM, took longer, we are still in B'ham, so am I, meet you at Tesco's M42 19:00 follw back to Oxon. 79 TVR Tamir turns up, "its running hot, top half rad hot bottom cold"..."air lock or blocked rad" I hypothesise, "we are OK at 60 mph, how far" they say, "80 Kilometers" I reply <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START ;) --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> . After stopping on the M40 HS to 'gaffer tape' the bonnet shut we get onto the B4022 to charlbury and TVR stops. "Fuel, gauage shows 1/4 we are out". "Grab your can" I say & were off to get juice". Add juice, turn over and over and over, no go, battery getting flat. Call the Duetsch equivalent of the 4th emergency service who relay to the uk 4th emergency service, no patrols in area, sub cont to local garage, be with you at 10:50pm (I was 8:50pm time of call) and its now started to piss it down. I park up behind em with Hazards On and wait, wait. They fix their Hazards by wrapping fuse in Silver paper and at 10:30 pm they insist I go. Having been on road since 06:45 and one 280 Miles I'm knackerd and hungry. Quite a few people stopped to see if we were OK. I really felt for the guys, it was pitch black (expept for the lightnin'), middle of knowhere......Classic Motoring, part of the joy
