Gay car ?

#1 Post by Stan Part » Fri Nov 04, 2005 7:38 pm

My work is buying and selling company cars and I recieved the photo's of this car for consideration . It is a BMW 328i Convertible 1995 vintage with a AC Snitzer Body kit, Snitzer 17" Alloys and is finished in Calipso Red Pearl Effect.

Now I submitted the pictures to the companies buyer and in passing I said I though it was a beautiful looking car, he inturn laughed and after studying these photos pronounced that the car was a "Gay Car", and infered I had bad taste.

So, what do you think - nice motor or gay car ?
I can see where the guy is coming from, although I don't really agree.

The most "manly" BM would be the M3, and directly underneath that is the 328. It is a fearsome beast, very quick and lovely through the corners.

Someone paid extra to have one with the roof chopped off. It's heavier, less aeroynamic, and has much less torsional rigidity. The only possible reason for buying it is that it's

a)Expensive

and

b)Convertible, so everyone can see that you are the owner of a car that is a).

I imagine that he is stereotyping "Real" men who want hairy-chested race cars, and Gay men, who obviously only want to drive convertibles to pose in.

On the other hand, I really want a stag. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

I drive a convertible and I'm bent as a nine bob note (note:JOKE).

No its not a gay car, most people who drive BMW convertibles are just up their own arses so you'd just let everyone know what an arse you are<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

How can a car be gay anyway? Thats like saying a door handle is bi-curious.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ohwell.gif ALT=":">
Its post thatcher yuppie dealer boom so the only people who would have been crass enough to buy this would have been a low rent premiership footballer for his wife or a coke snorting pop manager....sort of lower rent Simon Cowell...
Then it would have gone down market and probably ended up with someone racially challenged and in the rap music scene...Miss dynamite's boyfriend? Third owner would be a drug dealer in Croydon. Then sold to a car dealer who would eventually tire of being pulled by the sweenie tailing its previous owner/s and stick it in an auction. Thats how it came to you...company was probably McFarty cars of Tooting...
So hot but really Gay....
Put some less contoversial wheels on it and lose the headlamp eyebrows and it would be improved IMO.

Other than that, these cars just seem to attract wannabe owners who seem to think they are on the set of a gangsta rap video which as an owner, you would probably tire of after a while.
Not gay, but if a bloke is driving it he needs a really good "my DB9 is having a valet" story to justify driving a bird's car (see separate thread about Mart's S200)

I wouldn't mention blowing and heads at all if I drove one of those!
