I was thinking Saab, but then I thought there would be a couple of problems with that.

1)It wouldn't need an adaptor from a Saab as they kept most of the external bits of the block the same?

2) they changed the crankshaft length back in 79, so it wouldn't have the same harmonics?
BTW - I'll email you for an update on my bits, you must have a nice little package there awaiting a lazy pom to dig out his credit card.

Take care,
My moneys on a porker. Don't remember reading about them when I was reading up on the 924 944 series so 911? They've used every trick there is to turn them from the deathtraps they stared out as to what they are today so a freudenberg is bound to have been in there at some point.
Wouldn't be a big need on a Porsche, the crankshaft is really short. I reckon...
It's got to be off a BMW. or Merc. Or VW. Or something.

Freudenberg Harmonic Balancer

#25 Post by sprintparts » Fri Jan 27, 2006 9:50 am

Well gentlemen you have all had your guesses and no one has got it 100% correct. But the answer lies with Ben Tomkins. Ben has sourced a quantity of adaptors from SPRINTPARTS and will, I am sure, be happy to supply a complete kit to meet your needs. To be honest the most economical way for you guys to source a Harmonic Balancer is to have the adaptors sent as part of a larger order which Ben has done.

Despite what the Beach Boys proclaimed- there is no such thing as "good vibrations", but we can help!!
Cheers
Hmmm, dunno if I want to go there...

But yes that's me - I'll see if I can get something sorted out for the club, (sorry Malc, no forewarning) I'll get the kits sorted and we'll hopefully sell them through the club.

I'll offer dampers with and without teeth, but the teeth are 60/2 not 36/1 so I need to sort out what ignition to use, obviously you can add yer own toothed wheel if using EDIS etc. but I'm pretty sure you can add a bit of electronic wizardry to run a MegaSquirt II or the like with a 60/2 wheel.

Or use a plain damper for those on carbs.

60-2 bit of a hint there about possible cars the damper comes from. More of a hint to what it doesn't come off actually.
