Series 1 E-type 2+2
Series 1 E-type 2+2
Anyone know the value of one of these beasts in Blighty?

I've not seen it yet but here's what I've been told about it.

Needs some welding and paint, bonnet has already been fixed and is in good shape. No major welding required just some patches, apparently.

it is a runner and has the tripple SU carb set up, not sure of the engine capacity. It needs valve adjustment due to excessive noise(?).

It is complete but the kicker is it is an automatic.

On the basis of the above can someone give me a ball park figure for the above. the car is for sale for $6000 yankee dollars. Is it worth shipping back to Blighty for someone. shipping will probably between GBP1000-1500. If anyone is seriously interested I can go and look and take photos.
cheers
I would buy it if I had the money! I thought I'd put the word out to you Gents 'cos it does seem like a good deal.

As I said I can go and look at it and could even get it to the docks.

I did offer to trade it for my mazda protege but for some reason the bloke wasn't interested<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">
e-type
covered h/lights 3.8 uncovered 4.2
extremly expensive to restore as parts are hard to comeby unless you get repo stuff but at $6000
$450 shipping est then import duty at thier valuation at portr of entry never done it at a euro port could work out cheaper ?
weigh it all up first before you jump in
if it's a 3.8 worth it's worth it

Dont know....
much about E types but here is the deal...

Series 1 faired in lights is good news.
Tripple SU carbs is very good news.
2+2 on a series one is BAD news. Ugly thing. Hard to shift. Most get rebodied as fhc's and roadsters.

UK prices? Non genuine but running US E types in lhd and twin stromberg form even get 10k UKP on a good day.

Check the tubes in to bulk head....cills very carefully. This is a very dear thing to sort out.

Interior? Must be all there and restorable. Replacing is VERY expensive.

We would love to do it for you if you buy it....
Re: Dont know....
Personally, although the series 1 is more of purist car it doesn`t do it for me the way the later cars do, the flat floor makes for a nasty driving position and and they never look right with a roof. My favourite is defo the series 3 V12, lovely to look at and fabulous to drive.

If it hasn't sold....
by next weekend I'll go and have a look at it, it does sound like a good deal.
