what a cool set of pets you've had! Great for the kids too to teach them to respect nature and what responsibility is all about. I guess they had the added advantage that if the kids played up, you could have always fed them to the snake! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol"> 
 
A chameleon? Here is a fact for you Ken (to replace the shattering spider one), did you know that even blind chameleons change colour to camouflage them in the environment they are in? Isn't that amazing? How do they do that? 
 
Hope you haven't had any more visitors of the mice kind Smifter and good to know you don't actually relish snapping their little tiny necks.

No I don't enjoy killing them, I used to keep pet mice at a child so I know what funny creatures they can be (although mine were field mice - totally different to these wild mice). 
 
My house has been mouse free since Friday!! 
 
Six is enough. We don't want anymore. I'm convinced its the consistent cold weather that made them seek refuge as i know other people who are having problems with mice and squirrels at the moment for the first time ever. 
 
I've still been on edge with every noise we hear in the house but the traps remain baited up with mars bar just in case. 
 
The dog, as ever, couldnt give a toss but will quite happily run at the telly at full speed and headbutt the screen when any animal programmes are on. Now that is a stupid creature!

Both, although camouflaging is rather limited unless it happens to be green foliage behind them!. Ours used to sit on my shoulder like a parrot. Ours looked like this most of the time.

And as for the unenlightened audience....I was only thinking in creationist v evolutionist terms Smifter... 
Not the sort of debate you guys would have much interest in on a thread about vermin. 
 
I wasnt making any claim to intelectual superiority, no need to. We are all intelectually superior cos we drive dolomites.

Pleased to see a fair few squished foxes on the 150 mile Dolly drive tonite....Few less chicken coops trashed then.

I often wonder, if man is so superior, why it is he can't make a fox proof chicken coop?

He can, there's a couple of practical issues with one tho. 
 
If you make the entire pen fox proof: 
a) it looks like guantanamo bay. 
b) it costs a fortune. 
c) not exactly what you'd call free range. 
 
The shed usually is fox proof but: 
d) so far I've not found any chickens that can close the shed door behind them each night. That brings a human into the equasion and humans always bring mistakes with them. 
 
I can't remember how the bugger got our lot that night. We did occasionally forget to close the door but I'm pretty sure the fox incident wasn't one of those occasions. It'll come back, there's been a helluva lot of alcohol under the bridge since then <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

Humans, top of the food chain? Tell that to a man-eating tiger or indeed a tiger shark. We're not so 'hard' without our guns/knives/clubs etc. are we? 
 
I'm not a veggie but if it was a choice of starving or me having to kill an animal for food, they'd be having Susie burgers for a while! 
 
Scott, picture of chameleon is really good but had to laugh at Alun's comment. It reminded me of the episode of South Park where Steve 'Crocodile Hunter' Irwin featured. 
 
SCRIPT 
 
AUSSIE GUY 
...as we steer our boat down, looking for these dangerous creatures. Oi! There’s a King Croc right there! He must be 4 meters...12, 13 feet long at least! 
AUSSIE GUY 
This croc has enough power in its jaws to rip my head right off. I’ve got to be careful... So what I’m going to do, is sneak up on it... and jam my thumb in its butthole. 
AUSSIE GUY 
If I get bit out here I’m 200km from the nearest hospital, I better be real careful jamming my thumb in it’s butthole. 
AUSSIE GUY 
OH BOY HE IS PI55ED OFF NOW!! 
AUSSIE GUY 
I’m gonna jam my thumb in its butthole now. This should REALLY pi55 it off! 
AUSSIE GUY (cont’d) 
OH YEAH! THAT PI55ED IT OFF ALRIGHT!!!

Well, that was quite an angry croc. But I managed to escape with only a few bruises, and a shattered left testicle. Next week we’ll look for more of these beautiful creatures, so we can learn more about them by pi55ing them off immensely. Thanks for watching.
