1300 FWD Bits

#1 Post by PurpleBargeKen » Sun Apr 09, 2006 1:30 pm

Just brough home a spare 1968 1300FWD for parts only. Bodywork rotten as anything. Genuine 24K mileage though. If there's anything that you need for your FWD let me know and it's yours free for collection or for the price of p&p. Engine and gearbox are mine, all mine hahahahaha.
Finally got round to having a 'proper' look at the car. Opened the boot to find a large cardboard box full of NOS spares for a Simca 1301/1501 1967 -1975. Most now on fleabay<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Interior pretty good except for a couple of holes in the tan passenger seat. Rear doesn't look sat in. Rear door trim panels still covered in plastic<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)"> Mileage seems genuine at just over 24K. Gear lever action nice and precise. No pudding basin stirring like my other FWD<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/eyes.gif ALT=":rolleyes">

Might try to start the beastie at the weekend. Any advice?

turn the key<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

Turn it over by hand first using a big spanner thing on the crank end to make sure the engine turns, little bit of oil in filler to lube the rockers, fresh petol straight from can into fuel pump incase there this rusty bits in tank or line, clean out dizzy cap ,plugs ect. and it should start ok. my dolly engine i put in last month had been stood for 3-4 years and started after a bit of coaxing. (and changing of the contacts)
Oooer. Scary stuff. I don't want to knacker anything but I need to make sure it's useable. I'll give it a go on Friday. I'll post the outcome.
I think Luke (Barracuda) is looking for a new interior but would a 1300 interior fit an 1850 car?

I think it was a beige type colour he was after.

Just a thought.
1300 fwd front seats have different mounting points, not sure about the rear, also the front seats on a FWD are non reclining, they wouldn`t look right in a dolly.

Seatage

#8 Post by Silvery » Thu Apr 13, 2006 3:50 am

As far as I know the 1300fwd has the same seats all round as the 1500fwd - The fronts are a different design in terms of not reclining, having ashtrays in the backs... But though I haven't tried, I was always under the impression they had the "wide" hl type mountings. Can't be sure as I needed to fit a reclining seat for my back in the 1300, and only had a narrow type base model Dolly one, so had to drill the floor <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /frown.gif ALT=":(">

The rears are almost certainly a straight swap for Dolomite items.

1300 items seem a bit hit and miss on Ebay - I sold a carb a while ago that went for what I thought was silly money, yet I've been unable to shift some bits like trim and 1300 specific gubbins.

As for starting the engine - Put a littl oil (not much - Too much and you'll get hydraulic lock, not a good thing!) down each plughole, do the usual fuel, oil, water and dizzy checks, turn the engine by hand to make sure it's free, then spin it on the starter with the plugs out till you get oil pressure, then try and fire it up. Be prepared to switch it straight off if there's nasty noises or lots of smoke (there'll be a fair amount of smoke to start with as it burns off what you've put down the plugholes).

Oh well, shame the fronts won't fit. I suppose I could keep them but the interior in my fwd is blue and I have a tidy spare carpet to go in at some point as well and space is getting a bit tight.

Tan is nice but I just like the blue a bit more. The headlining is decent as well. Interiorwise it's nice but the bodywork is truly horrible - shame really.

Apart from the doors there isn't a decent panel to save. I was hoping for a wing lower to cut out and transfer to mine but they are both knackered. The chrome is better than what I have already and both screens are unmarked.

The guy that I bought it from had 40 cars of varying makes. He tries to ensure that old cars are kept away from the banger racers or buys them because the car may be an unusual colour, but he never really does anything more with them and it's just got a bit beyond him now. Good intentions but.... you know the story<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ohwell.gif ALT=":">

It looks like he's having to get rid of some more cars. If anyones interested I could pass on his details. Nice bloke though.

If I can help out with anything my original offer still stands<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">
Cheers
Hi Adam, the shape and location of the interior light is the main issue - 1300FWD had a round interior light that was mounted in the centre of the rook lining. I have one for a Dolly if he wants that for a tenner which has the light over to the n/s.
Had a question from a guy in Germany asking if the rear seat would fit his Spitty 1500. I have no idea if it would or not. Anyone know??
Adam ,i went to look today and the headlining is slightly grubby, looks like glue that has seeped through! but it is all in one piece no tears ect.i will get some pics on monday

The fwd headlining will leave you with a large hole in the middle where the light goes whichyou could always cover up with a ...umm...light<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">
