Weird Stag lights
I was trying to refit the lights to our stag after major body resto and there I was thinking it would be just like any other 4 light lucas setup of the period, dolly, T2000, rover p6 etc etc...

Not a chance...

This one has some weird halogen set up and appears to have just 4 single filament H4 bulbs.

So does the outer one stay dipped all the time on a Stag?

Anyone knowledgable or who could point me in the right direction...do the stag lot have a resource like this?

I think it could end up being rewired like a dolomite....

Interesting...

On my '74 Sprint the dipped lights go out when the mains are on but on the '79 Sprint the dipped stay on all the time.

From memory Jonners, all 4 stay on when on main beam on ours

Let me explain...
All dollies have a dual fillament, 3 connection outer headlight. One for main and one for dip. If you look inside you'll see the light fillament for dip is in a different place so the parabolic reflector and fresnel grid on the lens project the beam differently.

My stag just has a single filament outer, which I strongly suspect is a bodge by a PO...to get to a cheaper H4 bulb solution. but I could be wrong, hence the Q.

Just wanting confirmation...
Re: Let me explain...
Just looked at my '74. Must be a bad connection somewhere as when I pull the arm towards me (flash), all 4 lights are on. But when I push it away (main beam) the 2 outers are off.

Cheers Jod...
as I know you've had a spate of Staggering about...
so I'll go with the voice of experience which sits well with my own theories that someone has seriously fiddled with these in the past...

Looks like some new light bowls are needed as all mine have 2 wires only.....out comes the dolly light box then...
