The great 1850 giveaway (kind of)

#1 Post by Carsreunited » Wed Jul 26, 2006 11:27 pm

Right, the buyer of the 1850 let me down and didn't bother showing up at the appointed time. It reached £92 and after deducting my listing fee etc, would have seen £70 going to the club.

If someone wants it, I can trailer it to you at the actual cost of petrol based on 15mpg inc return from Bedford. In addition, all I ask is that you donate at least £50 to the club. It was worked on at the Restoration Show on the club stand and I think the club deserve some funds as a result.

So, who wants it?! Its a 1980 car with a 4 speed box. About 60k on the clock. Engine sounds sweet, it has a brand new clutch master and slave cylinder on. Interior is really nice, comes with 3 sprint inca doors to replace the rusty ones on it. Also has a towbar!
It needs the one cill finishing and the driver's side doing as well. I will donate the cill panel required as I had promised it to Scott, so for you Steve it would be a case of buy 2 get the 3rd free next weekend...
It has a very minor fuel leak in the chassis rail area and as Alun says, the sills were completely shot. It has had repairs in the past where it is still in its grey paint/primer so aesthetically, it could do with a bit of paint once the sills are on. I think it has a decent chance of getting an MOT once those bits are done. It has been off the road for a while so I would suggest giving the brakes a thorough overhaul.
I think i`ll have to turn it down. I really need something that has some hope of getting an MOT with not too much work. I have started job hunting you see and Laura needs the Honda for work while I need something to get to and from interviews I don`t have enough time to weld sills on 2 cars and overhaul brakes and fix any potential repairs resulting from the MOT test.

OK. Not to worry. It would definitely suit someone who has the luxury of being able to work on it rather than a rolling restoration.

Lewis, if you want it, I'll trailer it to you foc because you aren't a million miles away. Donate the £50 to the club when you are in funds. I'll take your word on it. I need to move it from the storage and life as the halifax bloke says 'is complicated enough!'
