Plymouth-Banjul Rally - Yes, I am insane...

#1 Post by morebhp » Mon Jun 26, 2006 6:06 pm

All,

Just a quick note to let you all know that I am doing The Plymouth-Banjul Rally in February 2007.

I gather you have to be mad to enter, so enter I did!

Is anyone else in the club doing the Plymouth-Banjul?

So, my question is does anyone know of any left-hand drive bangers for sale? The simpler the better - none of this fuel-injected nonsense...

Oh yeah, and the cheaper the better!

Cheers,

Adam

PS If I can find a LHD dolly, that would be even better

Brilliant. I myself am taking part in the Staples to Naples rally as it means I won`t use quite so much holiday up from work, good on ya though, sounds like a right laugh..

If only.....................

I could afford 3 weeks off in February, I'd have a go!

Sounds like a good laugh and it is all for charity. Have a great time.

Have you tried E-bay for cars?

With my luck Adam you'll be right. 2 breakdowns in the final week I was using it including one only 2 hours from freedom from the hateful thing was pretty typical of my luck with that car.

Best thing about being rid of it (apart from the surprising pile of cash) is that I will never, ever again have to visit an VW dealer parts desk. Ever. Bliss.

I didn't dare hope for 3 figures when I put it on ebay having not got a single bid for it last year, if this thread had turned up 6 weeks earlier.... As it turned out I sold the car for considerably more than the Banjul rules state the car should cost.

I'll keep my eyes peeled.
All, yes it should be a right hoot!

Cheers for your support in my insanity

Yes I am setting up a website for our team - www.teamflapjack.co.uk/, but there's nowt there yet - been too busy trying to get the dolly V8 MoT'd for Classic & Retro @ Santa Pod this weekend....

Three weeks of work? A sensible insane person would book their flight back from Banjul four weeks after they leave Plymouth... We WILL break down at some point!

Yes, I've tried ebay for cars... A few months ago you could pick up a LHD banger for beer money. Sadly there are now 200 teams looking for LHD cars, and ebay appears to be where they're looking, judging by the prices now... (£150 for a LHD 83 Renault 5, in UK, Spanish registered, no MoT or tax, and £300+ for anything that looks half decent )

I'll keep you posted as the hunt goes on....

There is a guy who has a load of yank cars at the place where I store my Stag. No idea if they are road-worthy or even for sale. I might be able to make some enquiries for you but they all look like gas guzzlers.

This sh*tbox should get me there...
Uno in drag!

Went to the meet and greet event the other weekend... Picked up a DVD of the first run - it looks mad!
