Went to an airshow once, Harriers are damn loud, wouldn't want to be where that guy was standing. Had a similar experience a few weeks ago. Quietly mowing the lawn if you can with a petrol flymo then whoosh a Tornado flew rather low over the top of my house causing me to nearly fall over. Thankfully it doesn't happen very often but I do live 1000ft above sea level looking down onto the city so maybe the pilots forget there's a bloody great hill there? Dread to think how fast it was going as it's wings were folded back and they don't do that unless they're really going some.

had a similar experiance a few weeks ago , being very close to , on a hill and under the flight path for southampton airport a fighter jet type thing came in very low and slow causing the windows to shake , this caused most of the neighbours to come running out to see what i had done. i was playing with the grinder at the time Ipanicked cos last time i saw a fighter at southampton was 9/11. then someone pointed out farnbrough airshow was on..
When I was in Pearl Harbor (film) I got buzzed by three spitfires, which were about 50 foot up. Now there's a proper aeroplane.

air show

Gre up nr Farnborough and many a plane used to fly past. Best by far was the Stealth Bomber which the yanks claimed flew from the US to franborough then flew back again having flown past. Dad works for BAe and the equipment he was working on at the time could track it (surface to air missile system) and tracked it from Somerset where it took off before following it back to Scotland. So much for a stealth plane.

The outlaws live about 200 yds from the flightpath at Biggin Hill overlooking the valley. Not too noisy a spot to live 363 days of the year. If anyone ever heard concorde go off you'll know what I mean when I say my ears rang for days the year it did a nose high, slow pass.
Off to weep gently for an hour having reminded myself of the worlds greatest aeronautical achievement being allowed to die.
