Strangest thing you've ever found in a used car?
Had a chap at work yesterday who part exed his old nail for another car. As is usual I decided to move the offending old heap round the back out of sight. I always check that no-one has left anything in the car like money, keys etc and we're unusually good at giving them back. Anyway I opended the boot and found what can only be described as an extensive collection of adult magazines. The gentleman in question obviously forgot they were there. It's worth noting at this point and I am no way agest but he was rather older than you might expect the average reader of said magazines to be, in fact he was 68.

Thinking that he probably won't take kindly to me phoning up and telling him he left his porno stash in the back of his old Fiat I removed the magazines and put them somewhere safe, the workshop tea room.

Anyway this morning he popped back and I asked him how the car was getting on and he seemed very happy. Then he asked if he could have his magazines back that he had left in the car and was rather diappointed that I hadn't telephoned to alert him that he had left them there. Realising he wasn't joking I then had to go round and find all the mags that had now been distributed around the workshop package them up and give them back. In the end I couldn't find a box so I just handed him the pile of porn!

Anyone else found anything weird and wonderful in any used cars they've brought?
When I bought CAB I found a John Lewis or Sainsbury store personnel badge with 'A Nicholls' virtually my own name dymo'd across it!
When I picked up LYD the other week it was full of chicken shit. (well, it had been stored in a hen house for 15 years)

In the boot of the second Dolly I bought (the red 1500HL pictured in the Gallery) were several lumps of coal(!), an old coat, a Betamax video recorder, a pair of old shoes and lots of old crisp packets. The driver's footwell was full of fag ends .

When I was working at a Mazda dealer as a mechanic I was given the job of checking over an MX5 that had been bought in. I jumped in the car and went to move the seat back but it wouldn`t budge, got out looked underneath and saw what I first thought was some old rag, gave it a yank and what actually came out was a rather stained pair of crusty old knickers. These of course ended up in the apprentices tool box.

Similar to your own experience, I bought a Mk2 Golf GTI.

When cleaning it thoroughly a week or so later, I discovered four extremely hard core porn videos in the spare wheel well. These were lovingly individually wrapped in polythene bags and were in immaculate nick.

Purely for research purposes I did sneak a look, and by far the best was the appropriately named "Red Hot Fire Girls". The other films were instantly forgettable. RFHG featured an extraordinarily large "hose" appropriately called "Fireman Bob - On the Job!"

It was one of the funniest films I have ever seen - full stop, and for that reason it went around my mates causing much hilarity until it had been played so many times that it was illegible.

The footnote to this tale is that the previous owner of the Golf (from whom I bought the car) was a married woman, very well to do, in her mid fifties. She had owned the car from new. And no, she didn't ever ring and ask for them back!

Some great stories there. I did find an unused (thank god!) sealed condom in the back of one of mine (I forget which one). The use by date was something like 12 years prior to me finding it!

Does this look familiar Martin?

The film description sounds thrilling. They just don't make films like that anymore!
He doesn't have a wife!

Martin, she'd obviously left them there for YOU! Nicely wrapped to ensure they stayed good.

Not been back?

Tons of bnib spares for a Simca 1001 in the boot of 1300 fwd spares car. Usually the strangest thing I ever find in my newly acquired used car is petrol in the tank or a valid tax disk

Re: Strangest thing you've ever found in a used car?
A couple of years ago I found myself training as a Firefighter to cover for the national strikes....

By far the most enjoyable part of the course, was learning how to use the hydraulic cutting gear for chopping car's up
I Digress......!

One thing the instructor's always used to stress was personal safety as you don't know what you might find.

On opening the boot of a scrap car we were about to hack apart, one of the instuctors stabbed himself on a drug user's needle.

Infact a whole 'stash' was found in all the recesses of the car as the Police were called and the car was seized.

No instructor's were seriosly injured in the making of the demonstration!!!

We get boxes in work from India or somewhere out that way. Often dead lizards and cockroaches in them.

I lost 'something' in my 1st dolly. when i sold her to my bro's mate and he started to tackle the repairs (he never finished them, the car got scrapped even tho DVLA thinks its just hiding), this 'something' got found under the carpet by a mobile mechanic, who unfortunately is a friend of the family

incidentally, found in the current SE, lots of glitter ?!, a pair of ray ban sunglasses in a gucci case and a big sticker saying police warning do not attempt to move untaxed vehicle.

lost 2 company cars ago was my little self defence bat thing made of what is meant to be the most dense wood known to man (whatever that is), also lost a kids sized cricket bat which I had before that ( ).

a few £ in change went down the back of the ashtray in the focus I wrote off last year and more recently I left a jabra bluetooth headset in the hire car I had when my lugoona fell on its @rse.
