My 1850HL passed its MOT yesterday after 6 months of being sat in someones back garden, however two problems continue to bug me:<br>

1.) The temp gauge doesnt work, where is the sender unit?? There is power at the back of the gauge, but im not sure how its supposed to work!?!? does the resistance of the sender vary with temperature? Is it more likely to be the sender at fault??<br>

2.) The clutch keeps sticking, which has resulted in a couple of near misses at traffic lights etc!!! Could this be because the car has been stood for so long, and it will eventually free itself off? or should I bleed the slave cylinder?? Unless there is any way of adjusting the clutch??<br>

1) the sender is on the inlet manifold by the thermostat housing - disconnect the wire and touch it against an earthed part of the car and the gauge should go all the way to the end. If it does the sender is knackered. If it doesnt its the gauge/wiring at fault.<br>

2) worn clutch hydraulics usually cause the clutch to be permantenly disengaged (clutch spin - difficult gear selection) therefore your clutch could be just sticking which may sort itself out with more use - its worth checking the hydraulics over anyway though if the car has been stood for some time as these cars are prone to clutch hydraulic probs. Adjustment of the clutch is not required with hydraulic systems.
