Lax Power?

#3 Post by LewisK » Wed Jul 23, 2003 8:43 pm

Don't worry, I have no intention of Lax <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ns/mad.gif ALT=">:"> Powering it.

Only gonna change the filters & add a Sprint exhaust tip, that's all. Sprinty sprinty sprint <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)">

I added an aluminium tax disk holder! Is that too far? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

Oh, if you must

#4 Post by Stan Part » Wed Jul 23, 2003 8:48 pm

Yes, you can add the Tax Disc holder - just don't put a 1978 tax disc in it !

That's taking orginality too far!

Very nice! You lucky lucky .............

If its as good underneath buy LOTS of Finnigans Waxoyl - the stuff that stays liquidish for ever. Brush apply thickly with a stipple action everywhere, especially the cills, inner arches, boot floor and chassis rails. I would even go so far as to drill discreet holes in the ends of the chassis rails and cills to be later plugged with grommets after you have liberally filled the cavities with the stuff!

Look forward to seeing it at the shows.

Just to wind you up .......

#10 Post by LewisK » Thu Jul 24, 2003 12:16 pm

It was waxoyled from new and topped up later on so it's pretty neat, and done underneath too I believe, but i'll look into doing it again.

It set us back, well the asking price was 1300, but me and my dad haggled down to 950.... <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

He had to get his wife to check that was alright <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> by then we knew we was in buisness.

Needs all new brakes though <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ns/mad.gif ALT=">:">

Suggestions:

#11 Post by LewisK » Fri Jul 25, 2003 2:11 pm

Air intakes should be routed to the front, behind the bonnet shouldn't they - What size tubing should be used - one that matches the intakes or a bigger tubing clamped onto the intake tubes? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ohwell.gif ALT=":">

Also, can someone tell me the correct tyre size for Sprint alloys - which is the best / recommened size cause it needs all new tyres - 3 different brands on it <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

Yes, air intakes should be routed to the front just to the right of the rad. (I suppose it is behind the bonnet if the bonnet's open <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ohwell.gif ALT=":"> ). The original tubing just slid over the intakes & the other ends fixed thro' a bracket which bolted to the rad.

The correct tyre size is 175/70 HR 13. A lot of people fit 185/60 this will throw the speedo out a bit (not sure how much) or you can fit 185/70 but these tend to rub on the wheel arch if you have passengers in the back or very heavy weight in the boot.
