Re: Exhausted ...totally
We have a FREE small ads service which would be a far better place to advertise your car than on this board (besides,as stated in the post towards the top of the message list,we don't,except under certain circumstances, allow advertising on this board).Follow the link to Sales & Wants on the main page.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">
corrosion
I think you may have a problem selling it AND getting your money back paul. The chassis legs repair probably means at least dropping the front subframe for access. And sill corrosion often means a hole at the front under the front wing where its difficult to get at as the wing is welded on. Pity they didn't make the bottom bit detachable.
Does anyone know of an easy way of repairing this front section from where there is a small step as it goes beneath the wing forward? Possibly a sill section from another car?

i've accepted that i won't make all my money back on it. but no worries, it was fun for all of a day and its a new experience for me.

the mechanic at the garage thought that the corrosion on the chassis was straight forward enough. i don't know the exact details of it, but i didn't see to much of a problem.

and yes, the main corrosion is at both ends of the sill near the arches mainly. it was recommended to replace the whole sill. i have took some high res pictures of the corrosion so follow the link and let me know what you think about the car. <a href="http://lanarkms.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/do ...

Re: Wowo...
yeh. sitting at a loss with the dolly 1300, but it'll be out of my hands from thursday. bought it in hull, and it'll be making its way back there!

my insurance is needing renewed and it will cost me £300 less fully comp than my present car which is only third party. i'm selling my other car to part pay for it and as i won't be using the dolly much till the summer it won't cost me a great deal to run (!) got a good summer job back home, done all my sums and risk assessments, selling my possesssions and it works out! haven't touched a loan in 2 years <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

Re: dolomite 1300 (1978)
Please tell me you didn't drive 120 miles with the rear n/side tyre like that! It can only have about 10psi in it!! eeek!<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ns/eek.gif ALT=":eek">

So going for a Sprint eh? I had to wait until I was well into my graduate job b4 taking the plunge. As many people say, don't be tempted to buy a basket case Sprint to do up unless you are brave or know the cars inside out! There are some bargains on Ebay so keep your eyes peeled daily, also look in Classic Car Weekly as well (every Wednesday), since people often advertise there first because it's free. A decent Sprint (with MOT) could be yours for a 500 - grand, maybe less. Check out Popular Classics June (?) 2002 edition for bits to look out for. But be very careful, those Sprint beasts seduce you something rotten when you drive them so keep your head and take your time!

There's a Sprint near me, outside a garage decaying into the gravel. It's a very distressing sight. Have contacted garage with my contact details in the hope it won't be scrapped without us finding out. What else can u do...

Cheers. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">
Re: dolomite 1300 (1978)
Nah! It came back from the MOT and went flat within a couple, of hours! the tyres a gonner though

as of yet i've not seen any sprints for under £1k. i was advised to look at the sales page on the dolomite site, but they're all mainly over £2k. i'll have a look at the magazines though.

i'm working on getting the price down on a local car that didn't sell on ebay. doesn't need any major work, has a while left on MOT and tax.once the summer break is on and i get some space it'll get some attention. and yeh, once it grabs you then there ain't no getting away!

if anyone knows of a suitable car (sub £1K), then let me know asap. cheers
re.dolomite 1300
i,m not a member yet but will join v.soon.I bought a tax,n,tested 1300 from my mates wife last september, early,.first trip was to the beaulei(?) show. on the m27 it was ok between 50-70mph.I enjoyed the show will go next time.My 1300 is late 1980 registered so it must be one of the last ,its got velor cloth trim in a rather naff 70,s brown with the white exterior paintwork. mot,s due in April and I hope it wont need much i,d rather not spend too much as its only the 1300,but i,d consider dropping the 1500 lump in, anyone out there done this?.Bought it for 150 quid and only spentservice items on it i,m getting attached to it. i do need a front screen sealing rubber, anyoneout there got one for sale

Check out the list of Specialists & Parts Suppliers here for ideas ion where to find a screen rubber.Fitchetts are probably a safe bet,as are Rimmers.
I dare say lots of people have dropped in the 1500 engine,it's a pretty straightforward conversion, the only slight complication would be fitting an overdrive gearbox, but even that wouldn't be too taxing.
Come and have a chat with us on the club stand at Stoneleigh this weekend.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">
