Re: new dolly
A Dolly 1300 is never going to set the road on fire <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol"> - I should know,I've got one (same colour too - Vermillion RED<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D"> ).
There are a few tweaks you can do to make it a little quicker, but if you want serious power you'll be better off buying a Sprint.
If you just want a little bit more "umph",try fitting the twin carbs off a Spitfire, but to get any benefit from this you'll need to fit a less restrictive exhaust system first. The club might be involved in producing a four branch exhaust manifold for these cars (Dolly 1300/1500/Triumph 1300-1500FWD/Toledo/Triumph 1500TC) sometime in the future.
You could try fitting a Fast Road Cam (from Triumph Tune),bigger valves in the cylinder head, getting the cylinfder head gas flowed, having the flywheel lightened, getting the crank and pistons etc balanced...Be warned though, all those mods will probably cost far more than it would to simply slot in a 1500 engine. Then again, fitting a 1500 engine will require fitting the gearbox, differential and several other bits and bobs.
It all depends on how fast you want to go,how much money you can spend and how much work you want to do.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">
Dubious benefit...
The 1500 engine will actually go straight in but may need a different starter depending on car of origin. Also clutch driven plate must match gearbox spline count.

Its doesnt IMO make a worthwhiel difference cos to get any serious power out of the smal 4 cosst too mcuh. The twin carb spit engine is only 75 bhp...only 15 up on std.
You may as well get a 1850/TR7/Sprint engine and all the other oily bits and start again at minumum of 90 bhp.
