I had a Stag until recently, it was only used in the summer, then I needed a second family car so it had to go.<br>
The Dolly seems ok, still not had a good look round it yet. It has blown a fuse twice, the overdrive is not working, and I gat a static shock when I change down a gear.It needs T-cutting and a service other than that I'm chuffed.<br>
"That Stag bloke" no offence taken. <br>

If its blowing fuses you only have 2....Take it its the one that does indicators, wipers etc....<br>
I' amfraid you are straight in to one of the dollies most irritating "features"...the 2 fuse wiring loom. How crap is that? It will be the wire up the stick chafing I suspect. New stick looms are available from Moss and Rimmers.<br>
How far did you have to go to get it? I was watching but in the end it was just a bit too far for me...and I already have 2 others that colour (pimento isnt it?).<br>
I would love to see what I missed...and let me know if ever you want out of it...I think if it was as described you still got a bargain, even though it seemd high by ebay standards. I would want a grand if I ever sold either of ours, which I wont....<br>

Thanks, yes it is the indicator fuse, is it a pig of a job to fix ? or is it easy to replace the loom?<br>

I went from Tamworth to Heckington (Lincs) It was a couple of hours on the train and about the same back.<br>

Not sure of the exact colour red it is, a bit faded. I don't think its its the orginal colour. I'm quite happy with it apart from the fuse blowing. I managed to get back home with it on one fuse change however now they blow straight away. I don't want to use in on the road until it's fixed, I had to use the Herald today.<br>

its usually the overdrive gearstick wires that short out and blow the fuse, favourite wear points are where the wire goes through the hole in the side of the stick or at the top wear the isualation around the switch contacts breaks down. <br>
You can see where the loom to the gearbox takes its feed down by the oil filter/ slave cylinder area. Just disconnect the bullet connector wear it heads off to the inhibitor switch at the top of the box behind the bell housing. If the fuse stops blowing you know its in that area.<br>
On our overdrive oldie I looked at the wiring diagram and seperated the green feed circuits at the fuse box and fused them indiviually, using an old MGB fuse box.<br>
It should have been made like this!.<br>

Cheers, incidently have I got the correct gear lever? Actual reverse is on the left next to first, on the gear lever it is on the right next to third.

Its a common problem. The correct switch cap is now very rare. If your car has had the overdrive fitted retrospectively...I doubt whoever did it could find the correct top and used a later one instead.<br>
If your car had o/d at the factory the VIN will end in an O....eg WA5xxxDLO<br>
