Good guy??

#1 Post by Carsreunited » Fri Dec 30, 2005 1:56 pm

I thought he was supposed to be one of the more reputable breakers?
Turn away if you are an ohv fan.

A late sprint is being broken by someone else as well currently. Another one bites the dust.

Robsport isn't it?
What else is he suppose to do when the car has previosly been for sell and no one bought it. he could always leave in in the garden to rot away.
He 'did' a blue 1500 a few weeks ago too.

What is he supposed to do?
a) Don't buy them in the first place? Afterall there are no common parts to the TR7 in which they specialise
b) Park them in their capacious storage yard until they do sell?
c)Offer them to Club/members direct if they need the space that desperately?

I've not seen either for sale anywhere previously; he sells a lot of stuff on ebay and I don't believe either were offered complete. I can be fairly sure of this as firstly Susie has been looking for a Dolomite for a while and we didn't see them and secondly I automatically watch all Dolomites that pass through ebay (there are currently 70 odd finished Dolly auctions in my watch list) and they aren't amongst them.

I held my tongue until recently as I too previously considered them to be sympathetic...

They usually advertise all sorts of rotbox TR7's from £200 up so they do have sympathy on some fronts. I think the problem is this notion that alot of people have that the 'sprint' is the only one worth saving, or maybe the only one that there is in any money in?

Where was it advertised Justin? I must have missed them too on the normal channels.
A word in his defence...

Having seen other Dolomites that were in Numpty's care in the past I can say he does about 3 a year and all of then are well beyond whet we would consider worthwhile restorations.
Both of these cars would require at least a monkeys worth of work to get back on the road...and then they would be scruffy 1500's with a ticket and goodness knows what else needing doing to make them daily useable.
If you can buy a 27k mile 1850 auto for less than 500 quid what hope has he got of selling these as goers? I doubt he paid much for them. I expect they were rescued from deceased estates or retired drivers after years of neglect. At least this way he covers his costs and puts some parts into circulation.
Sadly a Sprint is the only model worth restoring for any sort of financial return. Then you may just get your money back....if you are lucky or clever.
It was just the fact that he mentioned 'good shell'. With a good shell, anythings possible surely? I could understand it if they were disintegrating before his eyes. We all know that very few people will throw new panels at anything other than a Sprint.
