Halogen headlights!

#1 Post by KLJ895W » Mon Jan 09, 2006 10:14 am

Has anyone seen what halogen lights are going for these days? I thought these were expensive, but then I saw these.

We're suffering some massive headlight price inflation at the moment. Look at the latest price!

£30 from Robbers so does someone know something I don't?
Compare those prices to the cars that still use this format and size of headlamp; ie Beemer, Series I Elise (now obsolete), Jag etc.

All our headlamps are getting expensive because so few cars use them nowadays and 'we' create such little demand...does anyone still make them even?

I have cars with the halogen lamps and the silvering is starting to come off on some so they are no longer just bulb replacement maintenance items; prices are therefore bound to rise...

Well it makes Rimmers current offer of £85 for a complete halogen conversion kit look very tempting...
Dunno about jags and vauxhalls but beemers and veedubs that use the common sizes are not common fittings. Custom fittings means custom manufacture so parts are bound to be more expensive. Standard fitment 7 or 5 3/4 are dirt cheap from many sources such as vehicle wiring products. Halogen sealed beam are available still but are not as common as tungsten sealed beam or halogen / bulb.

Those are fetching the price they are simply because they say Lucus Halogen on them and so are OE.

I paid less than that for my whole upgrade kit including the alternator.
I actually paid zero for my halogen lights on the Sprint, but I've been driving the 1850 quite a bit lately so I've been looking out for some cheap halogens. I was only going to do it if I could get them cheap as I'll probably sell the car soon(ish). They certainly aren't going cheap on ebay lately.
Rear Stag Lights..

I guess that they are quite expensive. But then you consider that the rear Stag lights went for £150 each, they don't look too bad...
