Who is Sandy Beach....

#1 Post by Jon Tilson » Fri Apr 21, 2006 10:05 pm

He has the annoying habit of making me pay more for stuff than I want to.

All is fair in love war and ebay but I could really do with the green tinted quater lights as the last bits of sundym I'm missing for an upgrade to sundym all round.

So go lie on the beach and stop out bidding me...

arf arf...
Never mind Sandy Beach...

#2 Post by alun n » Fri Apr 21, 2006 10:44 pm

...look at who had the first bid!

I need the driver's frame for ressurection of vandalised DOB; I have lumps of tinted quarter light glass out back Jon, I'll bring you a couple down on Thursday...

and I could have bought them myself...

And he's outbid me on something else too...

If he wants it he'll have to pay...
Not to worry

#6 Post by alwayslate » Tue Apr 25, 2006 10:35 am

This happens to me as well, I get outbid mainly by guys who have more money like fordescortracing, but that's the joy of e-bay and I accept that. Lately I just bid what I can afford and if I win, I win and if I lose, so be it. I Would never get into a bidding war or bidding up someone else because they outbid me on something else.

The moral of the story is don't bid on items that Jon is bidding on or he will send the boys round!!

I always used to follow this very sensible practice... Until I ended up bidding on a certain Dolomite Sprint V8... In the last few minutes of the auction I got an uncontrollable urge of "I MUST have that car!".
I suppose one's allowed to go way over one's budget every little once in a while

Like I said...

#8 Post by Jon Tilson » Tue Apr 25, 2006 12:07 pm

all is fair in love war and ebay but said sandy beach has annoyed me a lot lately by buying stuff I suspect he doenst need as much as I do...
I mean is he trying to upgrade a 1300 to HL spec like me or does he just want the quarter lights to sit in the shed til he sells that car on? If he was on here he could tell me...and we could come to some friendly arrangement based on need. I didnt bid again cos Alun said he needed them. I fight Alun sometimes but if he says he needs a bit really bad I leave it. I'd do the same with most of my mates on here.
I dont see any point in bidding stuff up for fun. I'll bid the most I want to pay too. Some people just see that as a challenge and outbid me just for fun I suspect.
I'm not paranoid but some people are out to get me..

I dont need the water pump kit so Sandy can have it...
I'll get him another time....
Just to ease your paranoia a little - I bid you up on some balljoints the other day. I thought you wouldn't be so generous so I was a bit embarrassed when I hadn't outbid you. I did want them and wasn't trying to make you spend more for the sake of it! I think we both ended up about £50 short in the end so my guilt was eased.
