In my humble opinion...

Though I'm not as much of a Sprint aficionado as the rest of you, from the discussions I've had with David and seeing the pics, I'm convinced this is a genuine early Sprint, possibly even one of the "holy grail" sub-2000!
The only reason I can think for it's missing identity is that someone has transferred it to another car in better condition which is now masquerading as this one. After all it's cheaper than a full resto!
Could the mysterious other dodgy eBay car be it's alter ego....

Early Sprint

#32 Post by Aberdeen Sprinter » Wed May 31, 2006 8:31 pm

I really hope it is a genuine early one David. These beasts have taken on some sort of perverse mythical legend. Can anyone explain that accurately? I'd love a 73 L-Reg but can't completely explain why?
Just a point that I'm sure will be addressed....did the centre console/tray thing across the gearbox tunnel come as an extra in the early days? Or I guess could be retro fit? Many years ago had an M-Reg 73 that was carpet round the stick.

Surely there must be enough marks, stamps, odd fitments etc to date this one?
One and All

Thanks again for your assistance. I have tracked various marks from your suggestions and thinks it s a 73/4. I have a few nukbers I can follow up so I'll close the posting (if I can) and let you all know once I have finished my investigations. Thanks
With the help of a new friend I (well actually he) have found some numbers which look like they might help, so i have taken it off ebay. It certainly looks early. If I can get the full details then a resto is probably on the cards - we'll see - wish me luck....
