Glad you posted Will, I've just seen the bit he's added to his sales patter about the last people who turned up expecting the car to be on the road in 5 minutes! I think an e-mail is overdue for this seller giving him a piece of my mind!

As Alun said, it would be ok as a project car but not worth the £525.06 I had as the winning bid.

Bid again must be worth that at least.
I think the point here is we could have driven it onto the trailer within 5 minutes, but only on two cylinders after having been told previously it runs and drives OK...and the seller wasn't there when we called. His neighbour tried several excuses as to why we shouldn't start it too.

Personally I would have not hesitated to buy it as a private sale at a negotiated price. Go and see it if you can so you can judge for yourself, my opinion was:

Quote:
car was not all bad, quite solid in places, not in others. All four jacking points had gone together with NSF and OSR inner arches, ie both outer cills off and what lurks beneath? Boot floor gone in the usual places, front inner wing rails had work done badly on OS, but very sound on NS. Chassis leg on NS tidy, as was rear roofline. All arches had lost paint and surface rust prevailed, but probably didn't need panelwork, except for OSR at junction with cill where filler prevailed apart from where it had dropped out! Front lower valance adrift from wings. Interior shabby/neglected. Engine fired readily, but was running on 2/3 only - may have been a simple fix on the engine running, but as significantly worse than described...we walked. Would be a good 'project' for someone who knows what they are doing and has the time, but at a tad less than it went for at auction...

...oh, and the exhaust was blowing

Bear in mind the photo's have been taken in the rain which always makes a car look better

Alun,

I consider you to be one of the Dolomite Master's.

So my money will be staying in the bank.

And with Project AJP i'm too busy to take on anything else.

...but easily repairable and with Club panels too...for someone who can weld and paint.
