Yep, I would say it's a reshell job as just about every detail points to an early car except for the no. plate.

Edit: Or perhaps he just swapped the no. plates. ???

Badging....

#4 Post by Jon Tilson » Wed Jun 21, 2006 1:33 pm

is easy to fix as is the bumpers.
What colour is it? I reckon its honeysuckle but looks a bit dark?

Door trims are right for the year. It looks a cracker. If I were in the market for a near minter I'd give this the once over.

I'm beginning to think worrying abot a reshell is a waste of time. If its got all the right bits and has been done properly, has a valid VA identity plate and matching numbers you cant see anyway who is going to be able to tell apart from me Alun or Mart? Evne Triumph probably didbnt decide what it was going to be until it had been painted...
Looks like original Mimosa which would point to a an early car reshelling a late one! Normally the other way around hey.
It says Girvan is in Ireland; if it is near Glasgow thats not too far from where the bidder resides isn't it? Curiouser and curiouser...

Its mimosa. Could be a honeysuckle one resprayed which would explain the early colour on a late car and the 'milkyness' in the engine bay

re- tidy looking Sprint

#14 Post by kvz2000 » Fri Jun 23, 2006 12:21 am

Hi All,
Its my Sprint thats on Ebay, just testing the water but will sell for right money. I bought the car in this condition, I'm not an expert when it comes to the finer details and I really dont care about what bumpers etc are fitted, I do have all the receipts and details of every previous keeper, ITS NOT BEEN RE-SHELLED. but has been completely stripped, all glass out, interior out, engine out and most of the panels renewed, inner and outer front wings, doors, etc etc. was owned by a gentleman from Cleveland who had it fully restored over 3 years from 94-97.Its been in England until recently and at several shows down there. It runs perfectly and looks great, whats the story about the dodgy bidder( which one) so that I am aware. Girvan is in South West Scotland, approx 2 hrs North of Carlisle,
Thanks for all the nice comments, I might hold on to it for a while and that would be fine,
cheers
Donald.
