I assumed it was Brooklands. Number plate is illegal.

Its less than 10 minutes away if anyone is interested enough for me to have a look for them. Better prime me with the right questions though....

question no. 1.... will you take £150 for it?
guestion no. 2....are you deluded?

im sorry but sprints rarely get that sort of cash although if it sells for £1250. than it can only do good for the dollys value.
I guess the reserve is something like the buy it now price, so perhaps we all wait for it not to sell and hope the relist is more realistic.....Now I know roughly where it is, I might swing by anyway...

If we continue to de value our motors here.......
Spit wheels and illegal plates for sure but looks tidy to me.
Shoot me if you think otherwise!
The Manta club suffer the same depreciating attitude, so it may 'only' be a 1300 but look how much MK2 Escort 1300's fetch with or without the wrong bl**dy wheels.

No, this is not my car but I wish it was, as it looks quite nice.
1300 or not £1200 aint a bad price for a solid economical motor with a bit of character to boot!
What would you drive? a Nova!
On the Up....

#10 Post by Jon Tilson » Wed Jul 12, 2006 12:31 am

I had a young lad bring his 13 round for a tune at the weekend. Was a little lulu, one previous grannie owner and in this colour and sub 50 k miles. I was pleased he had been happy to pay 1200 for it....
In absolute terms it wasnt a bad buy. I could probably have bought it for 800 by being cruel to grannie (Flat paint on the roof) but like you all say...why talk them down.
This one looks like at least a monkey...alhough a gorilla is a bit strong.
This looks very much like the one your mate sold last year Jonners (James???). Same wheels, spoiler, alloy rocker cover (indeed the underbonnet shot looks identical). I seem to remember the illegal number plates.

If I recall, it sold then for £850, so it looks like someone is trying for a quick buck. At the time, £850 was regarded as top dollar for a 1300 Dolly. Even if we allowed a generous dose of inflation that would only equate to £900-950 now.

I hate pushing the values of these cars down, but a 1300 Dolly would have to be exceptional in my view to warrant over a grand privately.

That said, a few years ago whilst holidaying in Cornwall, I did stop at a local garage where they had a 1980 1300 Dolly with 97 miles on the clock for £3000. It hadn't sold by the time I went home......

I did wonder....

#12 Post by Jon Tilson » Wed Jul 12, 2006 2:14 pm

if it was indeed the one James was selling. Havent heard from him in a while and I dont remember his having any dents and it was lower than 50k miles for sure.
I also would have remembered telling him off about the illegal plates if he had fitted them, being analy retentive about such things..
so I concluded it probably wasnt despite the similar SE wheels and trims..
the ebayer has had this one since sept. 05.
i agree with the comments about keeping the prices up but that is far too much.
£800-900 seems about right for a minter with ticket.
Those wheels might, just might be original, they did fit them to some of the very last 1300s.
