Re: Wheels and tires
Yea, the 175/70/13s tyres are the standard fitting but a lot of people go for the 185/60/13s. I've recently gone to those on my Sprint. Don't forget this will throw yer speedo out a bit, it will show a faster speed than you're actually going.

Re: Wheels and tires
Mine shows a slower speed...I had put it down to the 185/60s as all else is standard...?

Re: .
close adam...

the 60 or 70 refers to the 'profile' of the tyre, 70's being a larger outside circumference, and thats whats standard.

60's are a smaller circumference, so the wheel will turn slightly further to cover the same distance, so with 60's you should find your speedo will read that you're going slightly quicker than you actually are.

175 or 185 etc is the width of tread in contact with the road, so 185's should offer slightly more grip and therefore slightly better traction. reason why people go 185/60 is wider tyres will be more likely to foul on inner arches etc so the slightly lower profile compensates for the extra width.

widths are a bit academic in reality, some 175's are wider than 185's, ridiculous but true.

speedos arent actually that acurate, anyone with a gps/sat nav that shows speed will confirm this, speedos usually read on the high side and are commonly out as far as 5mph

alun - your scenario is odd ?!

Re: .
It's all relative. The 60 or 70 is the sidewall height as a percentage of the width. 70% of 175 and 60% of 185 etc. You can do the sums, 175/70/13 & 185/60/13 come out close but in reality Dollyboy is right, every manufacturers tyres are slightly different. There's loads of tyre size calculators on the net that will give you an estimate of the speedo error.

I used to have 185/60 on the back of blue but they rubbed horribly, that was due to it having well knackered suspension bushes at the time. Havn't tried 185s since rebushing.
