Like Alun says...
The bolt in the lower flexible coupling on the intermediate shaft must be completely removed. Insert a screwdriver so as to prise the coupling splined clamp apart a bit and they always come off. 1300's and 1500's are often a bit stiff cos the exhaust dries them out., 1850s and sprints are always well caked in oily crud and they slip off no probs. Good time to change the bulkhead bush while you are at it and fit polybush rack mounts for a totaly transformed steering experience..
Steering
Remove the top bolt from the clamp bit of the steering uj. Slacken the steering column adjuster inside the car, pull the wheel towards you until the bottom of the column pops out the uj.

Remove the bolt from the bottom clamp part of the uj where it joins the rack. Find a sturd flat bladed screwdriver and *gently* ease it into the gap there should be. Wiggle it around until the uj starts to move. At this point in might be possible to pull it off, or you might have to nudge the end of the steering column back into the uj slightly and turn it, so you can get to the other side of the uj, to prevent a mechanical lock on the plines as you work it off.

That's how I've managed it in the past with tight uj's, although as it's always been my car, I have belted the screwdriver with a large hammer from time to time... But you do so at your own risk <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">
