Ignition cut out?

Today whilst I was driving along merrily the car (sprint)momentarily cut out on me and the ignition light came on went out and the engine continued without further problems. (this was only for a split second) At the same time I heard a click, which I thought sounded like a relay behind the dash board.<br>
