carb problem

help ,one of the carbs on my sprint is spurting petrol into the air filters.please can u advise where i should start first.<br>

Are you running SUs or webers?

First place to check is the needle valve in the float chamber.<br>
<br>
Disconect the fuel to that carb.<br>
Remove the 3 float chanber lid bolts. The bolts can stick so don't use too much force or you'll turn the heads off. If they seem tight apply plus-gas and leave overnight.<br>
Remove the float chamber lid very carefully trying not to tear gasket. <br>
Retire to somewhere clean.<br>
Remove the float by pulling on the pivot rod at the knurled end.<br>
Remove the needle valve.<br>
Clean everything thoroughly in degreaser or neat traffic film remover.<br>
Reassemble lid.<br>
Return to car and drain float chamber (use rags to soak up the petrol or better dip a straw in it, stick your thumb over the top and remove straw. Repeat lots.)<br>
Once you get the fuel down to begin revealing the bottom of the main chamber start scrubbing the bottom and in the two wells with cotton buds. By the time it's clean the last of the fuel will be gone.<br>
Refid lid, reconnect fuel line and try. If you havn't got one an in-line fuel filter just before the pump is a good investment, Halford HFF200 is big enough.<br>

if its that much petrol coming out of the jet I suspect the jet itself has lost its end with the small hole in...<br>
The bit the needle goes up and down in...<br>
New jet I reckon. Float valve is a possible as tin says but normally when that goes it just runs rich and petrol comes out of the overflow...<br>
