Jag/Rover HS8 carbs

#1 Post by iandollysprint » Fri Jul 28, 2006 12:49 pm

Sorry to enquire again but I am after any help on finding some Hs8 carbs for my sprint. I understand rover 2000tc carbs are suitable and also some jag setups but really need to be directed as too which type to go for from which car.<br>
<br>
Do you have hs8 carbs? if so what is the tag number (AUD number?<br>
<br>
Any help would be much appreciated.<br>
<br>
Thanks in advance<br>
<br>
Ian

I have a set sitting here under my desk waiting for me to make up some ally mounts but they don't have a tag on them. I believe they came off a Jag XJ6.<br>

I've got a pair from a series 3 XJ6 in need of a rebuild. Let me know if you're interested.

In the days of Sprintspares, common lore gave rise to the statement that you needed Jag, not Rover as the Rover items couldn't be jetted to suit the Sprint engine. <br>
<br>
However PNM (?) states elsewhere on the board his car is set up and drives well using Rover 2000TC carbs.<br>
<br>
On the two sets I have, the Rover 2000TC ones have tag 'AUD330' and the early XJ6 ones have no tag!<br>
<br>
Price wise I've seen folk get carried away, particularly on eBay. By comparisson, I paid £10 for the Rover ones and an equivalent pair as my Jag ones had £50 on them at Stoneleigh back in February

HS8's

Ian, I think I've only got the choke linkage with them. My phone number is in the club mag under North Hampshire. I tried using EZboard to get in touch but can't seem to get it to work. (am registered but haven't used it in a while so forgotten the password, doh !)

Yep, the HS8's on my sprint have the tags, AUD330. The SU manual says their rover 2000tc. They were on the car when i got it, so i dont know if they have standard rover 2000tc needles and springs. Sprint runs great and gives good mpg with the fast road cam, so if it aint broke...............

recently aquired some carbs on a sprint manifold , i thought they might be hs 8's but after a little investigation on the burlen site one part number has come up with hd .<br>
the only difference i can see between the 6's and 8's is the size of course and the fact the swirl pots are in between the carbs .<br>
anyone know what they couild be fromas there is no tag on them and are they any good , seems they have been on the manifold and fitted to an engine for quite a while with the amount of gunge thats biult up underneath them.<br>
<br>
cheers<br>
