Water pump spindle bush

#1 Post by tinweevil » Fri Jun 03, 2005 5:10 pm

Anyone got any hints for removal of this little delight? I can't detect the slightest ridge at the bottom to even begin getting something behind.

Found I've already got 2 new ones in stock so I've been here before.

(part no 145022, P02-41 of parts book, incorrectly described as distributor spindle bush in index)
...drill out one side of the bush opposite the existing split and it will collapse into two halves
or

fill it with grease and use a dowell the same diameter as the pump shaft to hydraulically drift it out

Alun, I owe you a beer.
Option A I didn't fancy, too hard to control the swarf. I thought I couldn't do any harm with the hydraulic approach, just clean out the grease and leave the old bush in if it didn't work. In fact it worked like magic.
