Right then, as mentioned in the WAMT thread, the one thing that gets on my nerves about the Dolly is the brakes that squeel. Not all the time, maybe only half of it, so I'm convinced this is just brake dust building up.

Am I right to assume this, and if so, has anyone bought any brake pads that perform better in this respect. Ahh, and one caveat, they have to stop the car as well.....

brake squeel
i thought the thing to stop brake squeel(i dont think i spelt it right) was to put copper slip all over the back of the pad thus stopping it vibrating which causes the squeel whilst braking?

Re: brake squeel
it doesnt actually stop the pads vibrating, it acts like a lubricant, and plastering the stuff all over the back of the pads will just mean you're wasting the stuff.

remove pads, good clean up, probably including a bit of scraping with an old flat blade screwdriver where the pads live in the calipers, apply copper slip to the back of the pads focus on the circle where the piston contacts the pad, put back together, should be job done
(or if you're me, strip the entire car, have everything sandblasted, repainted, and rebuild the thing )

Re: brake squeel
would anti squel shims work?? the slither of metal that fits between the back of pad and piston.with a little bit of copper slip to aid fitting/future removal.
squeel
pull pads do a very slight chamfer on the inner edge & outer edge see if you can get hold of the stuff they have in the states it sticks the pad to the piston (like s**t to a blanket you really have to prise them off when replacing them stops them moving about in the caliper (never seen it over here though)but perhaps american automotive might have it got to get some things from them soon so i'll find out as long as i dont forget !
but suspect that the pad material is the more likley
