Alloy Wheel Refurbishment

#1 Post by Malc » Sun Feb 22, 2004 7:26 pm

This topic has cropped up a few times. I've finally got round to doing the spare on XAA, after all, it is not only the Royal Family who need Air 'n' spare <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol"> .

Only part way through, but i've taken some photo's. Technique
1. wire brush by hand and 80 Grit Dry to remove the crud
2. Paint stripper to remove old lacquer & powder coat
3. 120 Grit wet n dry to start.

Now need another dose of paint stripper, and more Wet 'n Dry, coming down to about 1000 grit in stages, always with plenty of soap and water
Malc - I finished mine off with 1200 grit, then used wire wool & Autosol then just Autosol. Painted using Hammerite Smooth black (of course).
